An attempt to commit a terrorist attack was prevented in the administrative building of the Russian Interior Ministry's Department for the Smolensk Region, the press service of the regional FSB Department reported on Wednesday.

“A 30-year-old resident of the Tver Region tried to bring in a homemade explosive device disguised as a folder with documents. During the arrest, the attacker was injured, and two employees of the regional Department of the Interior received concussions. They have been taken to medical institutions," the report says.

Explosive experts are currently working at the scene.

A criminal case has been opened against the 30-year-old man under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Attempt to Commit a Terrorist Attack).
