Foreigner detained in Kaliningrad for calls to terrorism

The FSB Directorate for the Kaliningrad Region has opened a criminal case against a foreign citizen suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on “Public calls for terrorist activity and public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism.”

As a result of operational and investigative activities, officers of the territorial security department recorded and stopped the illegal activity of the abovementioned person who was carrying out propaganda of terrorism by publishing videos of foreign terrorist organizations in the Telegram Internet messenger.

The punishment for committing the said crime is imprisonment for up to seven years.

A set of operational and investigative measures and actions is currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances, causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of the illegal activity described above.
