German authorities have arrested a man who allegedly planned a terrorist attack near the Israeli embassy in Berlin. The suspect is a Libyan native who was about to be deported from Germany a year ago. According to investigators, he may be linked to the Islamic State group.

A special forces group seized him at his home in a Berlin suburb. Searches were conducted at the apartment of another man, who the police call a witness.

According to media reports, an unnamed foreign intelligence service tipped German colleagues about the suspect.
