Taliban special forces eliminate ISIS group in Ghor province

Special forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA, the Taliban's self-designation for the country) have eliminated a group of militants of the Islamic State (IS, ISIS) terrorist organization during a raid on their base in the central province of Ghor, Ariana News reported on October 21.

According to IEA spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, the ISIS group "organized an attack on Shia civilians in the provincial capital of Firouzkoh on September 12, killing around 20 civilians." The group has also been involved in various other attacks in Ghor, Kabul and Bamiyan.

"The operations against the group were launched last week by the Special Mujahideen Forces of the Islamic Emirate. By the grace of Allah, several members have been detained and admitted responsibility for their actions," he said. "In the Marco region, near the capital of Gore, a successful raid on one of their strongholds resulted in the elimination of the group's leader and another prominent member. A significant stockpile of weapons, ammunition, grenades and explosives was found at the site."
