Umm al-Fahm resident pledged allegiance to ISIS and planned a terrorist attack

Police and Shin Bet officials announced the arrest of an Umm al-Fahm resident who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, planned a terrorist attack in Israel, and took part in the riots during Operation Guardian of the Walls in May 2021.

Abd al-Rahman Muhammad Ibrahim Mahajana, 19, was arrested on October 7 in a joint operation by the Israel Police and the General Security Service on suspicion of planning to carry out a terrorist attack on behalf of the Islamic State.

The investigation revealed that Abd al-Rahman had pledged allegiance to the terrorist organization and its leader several times in recent months.

The suspect was also found in possession of documents related to the manufacturing of explosives and explosive devices, as well as a will he had written about a year ago, in which he declared his desire to become a martyr and bid farewell to his family. The Haifa District Attorney's Office indicted the suspect today.

The Shin Bet said: "This is another case in a series of arrests of Israeli citizens who were planning to carry out terrorist attack in Israel. The trend of involving Israeli citizens in terrorism and espionage is extremely serious, and the security authorities will act harshly against those who participate in it."
