Terrorist supporter on international wanted list detained in Ingushetia


Law enforcement officers in Ingushetia have detained a man who was wanted internationally for aiding a terrorist organization. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Ingushetia.

“Staff members of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Ingushetia, together with staff members of the UFSB of Russia for the republic, detained a local resident born in 1997, who had been wanted internationally since February 2024 for aiding in the commissioning of particularly serious crimes. Previously, criminal cases were initiated against him under Part 5 of Article 33, Part 2 of Article 205.5 and Part 5 of Article 33, Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the statement, cited by TASS, says.

According to the press service of the Ingushetian Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation the accused joined an international organization, between June and October 2023 and took an active part in its activities. That organisation, based on the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, was recognized as terrorist. 

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region clarified that this is an illegal armed group, whose members committed three attacks on employees of the internal affairs agencies in Ingushetia in March and April 2023. One of the crimes took place on the night of April 6 in the Malgobek district.
