The Shymkent Interdistrict Criminal Court has considered a criminal case against a Kazakhstan citizen accused of promoting terrorism, Tengrinews.kz reports.

According to the court's press service, it was established that the defendant distributed materials promoting terrorism through various social media. In addition, he "called on people to commit to jihad" to organize terrorist and extremist activities.

The defendant's guilt has been proven by the documents collected in the criminal case.

"The court found T. guilty of committing a criminal offense under Articles 256 and 259 of the Criminal Code, and he was ultimately sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment," the press release says.
