Massacre on Iran-Afghanistan border
Suicide bombers from Tajikistan and Afghanistan have been eliminated on the Iranian border; 18 people in total were killed. According to Iranian authorities, the men killed intended to "destabilize the region."
Commander of the Iranian Guards Ground Forces Mohammad Pokpour confirmed the information about the elimination of terrorists in the border areas of Sistan and Baluchestan province.
According to him, the eliminated militants were citizens of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
"We have reliable intelligence that they were planning to commit terrorist attacks with the aim of destabilizing the situation in the region. These people entered Iranian territory under the guise of fuel tanker drivers," Pokpour said.
Earlier, Iranian media reported that in just 10 days of the last month, 27 drivers trying to enter Iranian territory were killed, and another 18 were injured.
