ISIS supporter arrested in US for planning another 9/11
A 28-year-old Lebanese native, Anas Said, who intended to commit a terrorist attack in Houston "in the vein of September 11," was detained in the United States, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.
As reported on the website of the Southern District of Texas prosecutor's office, Said is accused of attempting to provide material support to Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization and planning a terrorist attack. According to investigators, he was looking into the possibility of attacking local army recruitment centers and offered his home as a refuge for IS militants.
According to the court case materials, Anas Said recorded videos calling for the continuation of IS activities. He stated that he wanted to take part in a terrorist attack similar to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. Analysis of the seized electronic devices revealed that the man was engaged in activities related to the creation and distribution of propaganda serving IS.
The accused person is currently in custody. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
