The PLA's Western Theater Command will send troops to Pakistan in late November to participate in joint counter-terrorism exercises that will last from late November to mid-December, the Chinese Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

The exercises, codenamed "Warrior-VIII," will focus on joint counter-terrorism sweeping and strike operations. The two sides will conduct multi-level mixed maneuvers involving multi-disciplinary units and conduct combat exercises in accordance with actual combat processes, the ministry said.

The two countries' military personnel have already held similar exercises seven times. They were aimed at strengthening and deepening practical exchanges and cooperation, as well as enhancing the countries’ capacity to conduct joint counter-terrorism operations.

The latest China-Pakistan joint counter-terrorism exercises were held in 2019.
