Erdogan warns of Syria becoming "hotbed of terrorism"

Syria must not become a breeding ground for terrorism, and the fight against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK, banned in Turkey) and ISIS must continue. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated this at a press conference after talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who is in Ankara.

"In the context of Syria, it is necessary to prevent the country from becoming a breeding ground for terrorism. The fight against both ISIS and the PKK and its affiliated organizations was one of the main issues that we discussed at our current meeting," TASS quotes the Turkish leader as saying.

Turkey, as Erdogan emphasized, "is the only country and the only ally that has defeated both terrorist organizations." "We will definitely not allow these organizations to flourish in the future. The fight must continue," he emphasized.
