The Shymkent Interdistrict Criminal Court has heard a case against a man accused of promoting terrorism, the court's press service reported.

The court established that the defendant met with three other men in a bathhouse in Shymkent's Enbekshinsky District in July 2024 and tried to persuade them to become shahids.

"He was supporting the terrorist organization Muslim Brotherhood (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun), promoted participation in armed jihad and urged other people to become shahids and take part in hijrat," the report said.

The defendant's guilt was proven by the documents collected in the criminal case, the court noted.

The court took into account the defendant's admission of guilt and sincere repentance as mitigating circumstances. The man was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years in prison.
