Turkey prosecutes five foreigners in connection with terrorist attack in Russia
The Istanbul Prosecutor's Office has brought charges against five foreign citizens, supporters of Islamic State terrorist organization, suspected of having ties to the perpetrators of the armed attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow on March 22, 2024. This was reported by the Anadolu agency. As stated in the indictment, Khofizjon Usmonov, Muteullo Asoyev, Rakhmatullo Salikov, Mukhammadrahim Faizov and Hamza Muhammad had ties to the perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Moscow, Shamsiddin Fariduni and Saidakram Rajabalizoda.
The agency cites Asoyev's correspondence with one of the participants in the terrorist attack which included a proposal to organize an explosion in the Vegas shopping center in Moscow. The potential perpetrator was promised 800 thousand rubles, delivery to the Belarusian border, temporary housing in Belarus and new documents. One of the Vegas shopping centers is located in the same building complex as Crocus City Hall and was evacuated during the attack.
The Istanbul prosecutor's office is demanding that the defendants are sentenced to prison terms of 7.5 to 15 years for "participation in an armed terrorist organization."
