FSB: Four Russians were plotting a major terrorist attack in Yekaterinburg
Four Russians who were planning to commit terrorist attacks in public places in the city have been detained in Yekaterinburg, Interfax reports, citing the FSB press service. According to the intelligence service, two of them "were involved in setting fire to an official vehicle of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region."
The agency noted that improvised explosive devices and communication equipment containing instructions for making explosive devices were confiscated from the detainees born in 2007-2008.
Criminal cases have been opened under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205 ("Preparation for a Terrorist Attack"), Part 3 of Article 222.1 ("Illegal Storage of Explosives or Explosive Devices"), Part 2 of Article 223.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal Manufacture of Explosives or Explosive Devices"). According to the FSB, the suspects adhere to the "ideas of a terrorist organization banned in Russia." It is not specified what organisation they support.
