Ankara has issued an ultimatum to Kurdish militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Syria, and if it ignored, a military operation may become relevant, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in an interview with CNN Türk.

"We have issued an ultimatum on the need to lay down arms and leave the country. We see that there are attempts to buy time," he said.

When asked by host Ahmet Hakan about alternatives if Ankara's calls are ignored, the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry emphasized that a military operation may become called for.
