ISIS terrorists have claimed responsibility for an attack on two clerics in Baghlan Province in Afghanistan, TOLOnews reported on January 9.

It is reported that last night two clerics were assaulted using a machine gun. The imam of the main mosque in the Baghlan-Jadid district, Hamdullah-Jan Mohammadi, was seriously wounded, and his companion, a teacher at the local madrasah, Abdul-Razzaq, was killed.

However, Taliban police spokesman for Baghlan Sher Ahmad Burhani reported that the incident was likely motivated by a personal conflict. According to the ISIS terrorists, they attacked "two Taliban leaders."
