Moroccan terrorist planned attack on Jewish community in Naples

Hours after a Moroccan man wounded five Israelis in a stabbing in Tel Aviv's Nahalat Binyamin neighborhood on the evening of January 21, another 30-year-old Moroccan man was arrested in the Italian city of Naples for planning to attack the city's Jewish community, Italian police said, according to Ynet journalist Itamar Eichner. The crime he is accused of is "conspiracy for terrorist purposes, including international terrorism or undermining the democratic order."

According to Italian media, the suspect conducted a 20-minute reconnaissance mission near a synagogue in Naples on October 20. The material he posted online included videos of attacks, massacres, beheadings, and the capture and torture of non-Muslims, with music and verses from the Koran praising terrorists and the killing of civilians playing in the background.

Italian police claimed that "the investigation, which began last summer and was carried out using intelligence and computer-assisted interrogation techniques, led to the collection of evidence of the suspect's affiliation with ISIS terrorist organization, as well as his activity in disseminating propaganda and multimedia content related to the organization, including educational materials, by technical means.

The investigation also identified the suspect’s expressions indicating aggressive intentions towards the Jewish community of Naples. He also expressed a desire to obtain a knife to carry out his terrorist intentions." In Italy, additional searches for people associated with the suspect were also reported, but details of those people’s involvement have not yet been disclosed.
