The foreign ministers of the 27 EU countries have agreed on a roadmap for the gradual lifting of sanctions against Syria. This was stated by the EU's head of diplomacy Kaja Kallas following the EU Council meeting in Brussels.

"EU foreign ministers have just agreed on a roadmap for easing EU sanctions against Syria," she wrote in X.

According to her, sanctions will be reinstated if the Syrian authorities take "the wrong steps." "While we are committed to acting quickly, the lifting of sanctions could be reversed if wrong steps are taken," she noted.
