Man arrested in St. Petersburg for justifying actions of Crocus terrorists
On January 28, it became known that a 30-year-old man was detained in St. Petersburg for writing approving comments online about the activities of members of the Imarat Kavkaz (recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation and banned). Members of this organization are taking part in military operations in Ukraine as part of national battalions on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to Forpost, the detainee also published videos in the public domain containing instructions on how to make and use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the so-called "guerrilla warfare." In addition, he was justifying the militants who carried out the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in March last year.
A criminal case was opened against the suspect under Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for terrorist activity, public justification of terrorism, or propaganda of terrorism). The maximum punishment for this crime is up to seven years in prison.
