Syrian militants carry out another religiously motivated attack
Armed groups loyal to the new "government" of Syria keep attacking members of religious minorities. On the morning of January 28, militants attacked the village of Al-Anz in the northern province of Hama, where Alawite Muslims reside. During the raid, the militants killed five civilians, including two elderly people and a 12-year-old child. Several others were injured.
Official sources have not commented on the attack. Presumably, a group of foreign militants acting on their own initiative was behind the attack.
The crime caused outrage among civilians, who demanded that the authorities take measures to ensure security and stability. Residents called on the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
An armed militia fr om the nearby city of Salamiyeh was deployed in the area of the village of Al-Anz.
Earlier, the militants arranged a series of attacks on settlements in the provinces of Hama, Homs, Latakia and Aleppo wh ere representatives of the Alawite community live. Since the beginning of 2025, more than a hundred people were killed in the attacks. The new "authorities" in Damascus say that raids are carried out on the residences of former officers of the Syrian army who joined resistance cells.
However, as a rule, victims of aggression are civilians, including women and children. Representatives of other ethnic and religious communities, such as Christians, Druze and Kurds, also become victims of attacks.
Earlier, the Islamist militants who seized power in the country declared their willingness to "cleanse Syria" of infidels. At the same time, the new "government" in Damascus proclaims religious tolerance and blames local resistance cells for the escalation of the situation in the country.
