In Crimea, special services detained five Russian citizens who were members of an underground cell of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami foreign terrorist organization. The FSB Public Relations Center provided more details.

As it was established, the five detainees not just were disseminating terrorist narratives among Crimean Muslims, based on the doctrine of creating a so-called global caliphate, but were also recruiting supporters at secret meetings. However, their illegal activities attracted the attention of the special services.

“During searches at the places of residence of the cell members, a lot of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami propaganda materials banned in Russia, as well as communication devices and electronic information carriers used by them for their terrorist activities, were found and confiscated,” the FSB Public Relations Center clarified.
