Hizb ut-Tahrir supporters detained in Kyrgyzstan's capital

In Bishkek, law enforcement officers eliminated a cell of Hizb ut-Tahrir religious extremist organization banned in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the capital's Main Internal Affairs Directorate reported, 24.kg reports.

The Service for Combating Extremism and Illegal Migration of the Bishkek Main Internal Affairs Directorate detained adherents of Hizb ut-Tahrir banned organization who distributed literature in the capital's mosques, spread narratives and recruited new adherents.

A criminal case was opened under the article "Production, distribution of extremist materials" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The detainees were 36-year-old K.K. and 35-year-old A.N., who were placed in the temporary detention center of the Bishkek Main Internal Affairs Directorate. During searches in the homes of the detainees, literature of an extremist nature, leaflets, mobile phones and external information carriers were found and seized. At present, the necessary measures are being taken to identify other persons involved in this prohibited organization.
