A criminal broke into a school in Orebro, Sweden, and shot ten people

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has spoken out about the school shooting in Örebro. He commented on the tragedy during an emergency press conference dedicated to the assault.

"Something has happened that simply should not have happened. We have witnessed brutal, deadly violence against completely innocent people," the prime minister said.

On the afternoon of February 4, a gunman shot students at Campus Risbergska. He entered the building with a hunting rifle and opened fire on people. Ten people were killed, and six more were taken to the emergency room.

After shooting the students, the attacker committed suicide. It turned out that he was 35 years old, and he was identified by the weapon registered to him.

SVT learned that the man was on the brink of poverty. In 2023, he received a zero tax rating, which allowed him not to declare taxable income or assets, and therefore not to pay taxes.

The shooter had not been previously noticed by the police and had not been prosecuted for any crimes. He also has no known gang ties. Law enforcement believes that he acted alone. His home was searched, but nothing helped to establish the perpetrator's motive.

Rumors began to appear on local social media that the killer was trying to convey a message with his actions. Police spokesman Fredrik Swedemir denied such assumptions, pointing out that at this point in the investigation, there was nothing that would indicate ideological motives.
