A 27-year-old resident of the Zabaikalsky Krai was sentenced to 3 years in prison and 6 years in a maximum security penal colony for financing Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist organization. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the 2nd Eastern District Military Court.

The man served his sentence in a maximum-security penal colony for setting up caches and attempting to sell drugs. In the colony, he was spreading radical Islamic narratives. Besides, he was supporting members of this foreign terrorist organization and had been transferring money to them from his relatives' bank cards for three years.

The FSB reported that the man also tried to involve residents of the region in the activities of this banned organization to commit terrorist crimes. Communication devices, payment instruments, and other documents serving as evidence to his activities were seized from the Zabaikalsky resident's home.
