Uzbek security forces arrest about 200 people on terrorism charges
Large-scale counter-terrorism operations organized by the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs took place in Uzbekistan from January 27 to 31. During these operations, 169 suspects in various criminal cases were detained, the State Security Service press service reported on Friday.
As part of the 946 operations aimed at improving the crime situation and identifying potentially dangerous individuals and groups, 418 people prone to crimes posing danger to public safety were identified. Criminal cases were initiated against them. The actions of 42 criminal groups were stopped, 399 individuals were brought to administrative responsibility, and 109 wanted persons were detained.
As a result of the operations, 80 units of weapons and ammunition, 30 kilograms and 337 grams of illegal drugs, 4,521 units of potent medicinal drugs, 186 knives, 22 batons, and 17 brass knuckles were seized. The State Security Service of Uzbekistan emphasized that measures to stabilize the crime situation will continue in the near future.
