FSB detains St. Petersburg resident for justifying terrorism

A criminal case has been opened in St. Petersburg against a local resident accused of publicly justifying and promoting terrorism. The man actively used a Telegram channel to distribute materials justifying terrorism. This was reported by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for St. Petersburg.


"In June 2024, the defendant posted messages justifying and promoting terrorism in a Telegram channel open to all users," the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for St. Petersburg stated. The message was published on the official Telegram channel.


FSB officers responded promptly to the defendant's actions and put an end to his criminal activity in a timely manner. During the investigation, a search was conducted at the defendant's place of residence, and evidence of his involvement in the abovementioned actions was seized. A restraining measure for the suspect is currently being decided upon.
