On February 17, 2025, the National Security Committee, with the coordination of the prosecutor's office and assistance from the police, put an end to the activities of religious radicals in the cities of Almaty, Shymkent and the Turkestan region, DKnews.kz reports.

Four citizens of Kazakhstan were detained on suspicion of promoting terrorism, including through social media.

During searches at their places of residence, material evidence was seized.

A pre-trial investigation is underway under Article 256 of the Criminal Code.
