Syrian media reported an incident near the Khmeimim airbase used by the Russian Armed Forces, the Directorate 4 Telegram channel reports.

It is reported that unknown individuals attacked a checkpoint of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants. Both small arms and UAVs were used. According to preliminary data, the Russian Air Defense Forces responded to the drones and eliminated them.

Many perceived the incident as an attack directly on the Khmeimim airbase. The Syrian authorities and the Russian Defense Ministry have not yet commented on the incident.
