A resident of the Turkestan region sentenced to 7 years for promoting terrorism

A resident of the Turkestan region distributed dangerous content via the Telegram messenger, a correspondent for the Kazinform agency reports.

According to the case materials, in March 2024, the defendant sent video files containing radical religious ideas and calls for violent actions, including "armed jihad", to his acquaintances.

The investigation classified his actions as propaganda of terrorism using telecommunications networks. The defendant was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and sentenced to seven years in prison.

The defendant's guilt was confirmed by witness testimony, the results of a forensic examination, and other case materials. The defendant fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse, the court noted.
