Nine terrorists eliminated in two operations in northwest Pakistan
Nine terrorists were eliminated in two separate operations by Pakistani security forces in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Xinhua reported, citing a military statement.
The operations were carried out in Mohmand and Dera Ismail Khan districts on Friday and Saturday based on intelligence, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing, said in a statement.
In the first operation in Mohman, two soldiers and seven militants were eliminated when security forces raided a militant hideout.
In the other operation, two militants were eliminated during an armed clash with security forces, the statement said.
Pakistani security forces have stepped up counter-terrorism operations in recent months after a surge in militant attacks in the northwestern and southwestern regions of the country.
