A supporter of the Islamic State has been detained in Brazil, the Directorate 4 Telegram channel reports.

The operation took place in Sao Paulo. The detainee was 24-year-old Brazilian Mateus De Aguiar Avelino, who recently converted to Islam. According to the intelligence services, he was planning an attack on the city police department. The suspect also tried to manufactue an IED and distributed ISIS propaganda materials online. During a search of his home, security forces found MTO paraphernalia, equipment, shotguns, crossbows, knives, batons, a grenade, and an airsoft gun.

Avelino's father helped detain him. The man reported his son's suspicious hobbies to the police and then lured him out of the house so that he would not offer armed resistance to the security forces.
