US President Donald Trump announced the elimination of one of the Islamic State leaders in Iraq, TASS reports.

"Today, the fugitive leader of IS in Iraq was killed. He was relentlessly hunted by our brave troops," Trump wrote. He also noted that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Iraqi government and the authorities of Iraqi Kurdistan.

On March 14, Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief Mohammed al-Sudani reported the elimination of one of the leaders of the Islamic State, nicknamed Abu Khadija. According to him, Iraqi security forces carried out this operation with the support of international coalition forces.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) also reported on the joint strike on Abu Khadija. The American military was able to confirm Khadija's identity through DNA testing. X CENTCOM clarified that the terrorist eliminated was responsible for the logistics and planning of ISIS attacks around the world. Another militant, whose identity has not been disclosed, was also killed during the operation.
