At least 11 killed in terrorist attack in Somalia

At least 11 people were killed in an attack by al-Shabaab terrorists on the Kagira Hotel in the city of Beledweyne in Somalia during a meeting of local elders, the Garowe Online publication reported. Earlier, Reuters wrote aboout four deaths, TASS reports.

According to Garowe Online, the victims included four elders of the largest local clans. According to a witness to the attack, there was an explosion first, then shooting and another explosion. According to him, part of the hotel was reduced to rubble by the explosions and gunfire.

According to preliminary data, at the hotel a public meeting was taking place, where local elders and representatives of the Somali Armed Forces called on young people to take part in the battles against al-Shabaab.

The al-Shabaab terrorist group has already claimed responsibility for the attack. The group claims that more than 10 people were killed.
