Syria's neighboring countries announce joint operation against ISIS

Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey and Syria have agreed on a joint operation against Islamic State terrorist organization. This was announced by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.

The issue of countering militants was discussed at a meeting of the foreign ministers of countries neighboring Syria, held in Amman, Al Hadath and Al Jazeera report.

Al-Safadi emphasized that the goal of the talks was to support Syria in its quest for stability and security. He noted that instability in one state threatens the entire region.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said that the fight against IS requires not just Syria's efforts, but international cooperation as well. In turn, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the parties agreed to create a joint headquarters to combat terrorism.
 
Lebanese Minister Youssef Raji emphasized the importance of Syria's stability for his country and stressed the need to address issues related to borders and illegal arms trafficking.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asad Hassan al-Shibani assured that the new authorities of the republic will protect all citizens and will not allow the past tragedies to repeat. He expressed readiness to work together to restore the country and thanked partners for their support.

The meeting participants also called for the lifting of sanctions against Damascus.
