The FSB has eliminated a member of the ISIS terrorist organization who was plotting terrorist attacks in a synagogue in the Moscow region and in the Moscow metro. This was reported by TASS with reference to the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the FSB of Russia.

“FSB has put an end to the terrorist activity of a Russian citizen, a native of one of the countries of the Central Asian region and a member of a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) banned in Russia, in the Moscow region. The terrorist intended to detonate improvised explosive devices in a religious Jewish institution in the Moscow region and at one of the Moscow metro stations,” the PRC reported. After the attacks, he planned to go to Afghanistan and join the FTO.

“When detained, the criminal offered armed resistance to FSB officers and was eliminated by return fire,” the FSB reported.

As the PRC reported, after swearing allegiance to the terrorist organization, the suspect researched the area and purchased components for making IEDs. During the investigation, firearms, components, chemical substances and striking elements for assembling explosive devices were found at his place of residence.
