THE FACILITATORS OF THE TRAVEL OF MILITANTS FROM RUSSIA TO SYRIA AND UKRAINE DETAINED
The FSB of Russia, jointly with the Investigative Committee and Rosfinmonitoring, eliminated a terrorist community in the Ural and the North Caucasus.
As the RG correspondent was told at the Center for Public Relations of the FSB of Russia, the founder and 18 members of the terrorist community created an extensive interregional network to provide resources for Daesh, foreign terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation.
From December 2021 to the present, 11 Russian citizens, including the founder of the terrorist community, have been detained and arrested in Dagestan, the Chechen Republic, the Tyumen Region and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. Another eight participants who presently fight on the side of terrorists in Syria have been put on the international wanted list.
According to the Russian intelligence service, members of the community, following the instructions of terrorist emissaries, were engaged in facilitating the travel of militants from Russia to the territory of Syria and Ukraine to fight against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as financing terrorism and justifying terrorist activities.
The Investigative Committee of Russia is looking into five criminal cases on organizing and participating in a terrorist community and a terrorist organization, as well as supporting terrorist activities and promoting terrorism.
According to the FSB, two members of this terrorist community have so far been sentenced by courts to lengthy prison terms.
