The riot in Vahdat penal colony was organised by members of a terrorist organisation. This was stated by Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda at a press conference.

‘The riot in Vahdat prison was organised by members of an Islamic terrorist organisation,’ the head of the law enforcement agency said, EADaily reported.

According to him, more detailed information will be made public at the end of the investigation.

As previously reported, February 3, a group of nine prisoners attempted to escape from the colony, located in the city of Vahdat. Using homemade edged weapons, they made an armed attack on the guards of the penitentiary, seriously injuring three of them.

As a result of the law enforcement operation, three of the attackers were killed and the rest were arrested.
