A meeting of the expert group to coordinate the draft Programme of Cooperation of CIS Member States in Countering Terrorism and Extremism for 2026-2028, as well as decisions of the Council of Foreign Ministers and the CIS Council of Heads of State on this issue was held in Minsk. The press service of the CIS Executive Committee informed BELTA about it.
The event was attended by experts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of cooperating bodies of the Commonwealth and employees of the CIS Executive Committee. Based on the comments and suggestions received, the experts decided to further elaborate the draft programme. The proceedings of the expert group meeting will be provided to the CIS states.
The need to adopt the programme is due to the Commonwealth states' desire to adequately respond to changes in the operational situation in this area. The aims and objectives of the programme are to improve cooperation between CIS States, statutory bodies and sectoral cooperation bodies. The programme's activities involve improving the organizational and legal mechanisms for cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism, preparing and carrying out joint activities aimed at preventing, detecting and suppressing terrorism and extremism, providing information, analysis and scientific support for the activities of CIS member States in this area, and developing the human resource capacity of the competent bodies.
