Kyrgyz law enforcers detained a group of extremists calling for establishment of a caliphate
Police and SCNS officers detained four suspects in extremist activities in Moskovsky and Zhayil districts. This was reported by the press service of the Chui Oblast Department of Internal Affairs, 24.kg reported.
On 10 February, law enforcers found a page on the Internet with videos calling for establishment of a caliphate. The page belonged to the Yakyn Inkar organisation, which is banned in Kyrgyzstan. The footage shows a man dressed in white sitting on a throne and making a speech, while surrounded by six people in similar clothes. A case has been opened under the article ‘Production and distribution of extremist materials’ of the Criminal Code.
Officers of the Chui Oblast Department of Internal Affairs, together with the Department of the National Security Committee, identified and detained the suspects. They turned out to be 42-year-old K.B., 54-year-old K.B., 47-year-old S.K. and 42-year-old R.A., whose houses were searched and material evidence relevant to the case was seized. All of them were taken to the temporary detention centre. The investigation continues.
