Twenty-seven servicemen were killed and dozens injured in an attack by Islamic State militants in Somalia.

According to the Telegram channel Directorate 4, at night the terrorists attempted to seize a permanent deployment point of soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Autonomous Region of Puntland, participating in the CTO in Bari province. The group used several suicide bombers on explosives-laden cars and motorbikes.

The Puntland defence ministry said the attack was repelled. The military eliminated dozens of militants in the firefight. Footage of one of the booby-trapped vehicles appeared on the net. Apparently, the artisanal armour was not enough to protect the suicide bomber.

According to the defence ministry, more than seventy terrorists have been eliminated in the course of the day in the course of the counter-terrorist operation and repelling the IS attack.
