The Second Western District Military Court has sentenced Eldar Ilyasov, a defendant in a case of financing a terrorist organisation, to nine years in a penal colony, the press service of the capital's prosecutor's office told RAPSI.

According to the investigation, between June 2017 and September 2019, Ilyasov made non-cash transfers of funds to the bank cards of a member of an international terrorist organisation, who is currently convicted of organising the financing of terrorism.

The defendant was found guilty of committing an offence under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Promoting Terrorist Activity by Financing Terrorism).
