In Minsk, CIS experts discussed cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism

A meeting of the expert group to review and agree the draft programme of cooperation of the CIS member-states in the field of countering terrorism and extremism for 2026-2028 was held on April 2 at the CIS headquarters in Minsk. This is reported by sb.by with reference to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Council of Heads of Security Bodies and Special Services and the Anti-Terrorist Centre of the CIS member states, key think tanks in the field of countering terrorism and other forms of extremism, institutions providing training in the field of countering terrorism and extremism, as well as the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth.

 The experts discussed comments and feedback obtained from the countries on the draft document and finalized and agreed the draft programme. It was also decided to submit it in due course for consideration of the CIS Council of Heads of State.

It is indicated that the goals and objectives of the programme are to improve cooperation between the countries, statutory bodies and bodies of sector level cooperation of the CIS. The activities of the programme envisage improvement of organizational and legal mechanisms of cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism, preparation and implementation of joint activities aimed at prevention, detection and suppression of terrorism and extremism, information, analytical and scientific support of the CIS member states' activities in this area, and development of human resource capacity of competent bodies.
