Persons suspected of having ties to IS detained in Ingushetia

In Ingushetia, special services detained suspects suspected of links to the Islamic State, the Telegram channel Directorate 4 reports.

The suspects were M. Tamaskhanov, born in 1992, and M. Sultygov, born in 1988. According to the law enforcement agency, both had repeatedly contacted Kh. Ganiev, an accomplice of an IS cell in Ingushetia, led by A. Gurazhev, who was eliminated in March 2024 in the town of Karabulak.

Tamaskhanov and Sultygov knew that Gurazhev's cell was preparing attacks on police officers, but did not report this to the law enforcement agencies. Moreover, they discussed with Ganiev arrangements to provide financial assistance to the terrorists under the guise of charity and collecting money from Muslims in Ingushetia.

So far Tamaskhanov and Sultygov are suspected of committing an offence under Article 205.6 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ‘Failure to report a crime’. They face a fine, or forced labour, or imprisonment for up to one year.

The IG cell under the leadership of Gurazhev was involved in murdering three law enforcers in the village of Zyazikov-Yurt and an attack on a checkpoint of the traffic police in the Nazranovsky district of Ingushetia. Due to the actions of law enforcers, most of the jihadists were eliminated. However, another member of the cell, A. Ozdoyev, remains at large.
