In Nigeria, IS militants launched a series of attacks on government forces

In Nigeria, militants of the ‘Islamic State’ carried out a series of attacks on government troops in Borno State, Directorate 4 Telegram channel reports.

In Katawila, the terrorists attacked the Nigerian Armed Forces troops who were there as part of the counter-terrorist operation against the IS. After a brief firefight, the military retreated. The victims of the clash were several law enforcement officers. The militants seized weapons and equipment, and burned buildings and equipment, including a Vickers Mk.3 tank.

In the town of Azir, the terrorists seized a permanent station of government troops. The insurgents got hold of weapons, a pickup truck and a motorbike. One serviceman was killed in the attack.

Militants carried out a similar attack in the town of Azegi. One soldier was also killed in the clash. The terrorists seized weapons.

IS resources published statistics of attacks in the so-called ‘Wilayat West Africa’ for March 2025. According to the propagandists, the militants committed 57 terrorist attacks in Nigeria and in some regions of Niger and Cameroon. The victims of the attacks totalled 169 people, including civilians. The Islamists have managed to defeat at least seven large permanent deployment points of the military that were involved in the counter terrorist operation against the group.
