Russia is grateful to the Afghan authorities for carrying out hostilities against the Afghan wing of ISIS. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated this while commenting on the decision of the Russian Supreme Court to suspend the ban on the Taliban.

The Foreign Ministry noted that the removal of the Taliban from the terrorist list paves the way for the establishment of a full-fledged partnership between the countries. In particular, co-operation to combat drugs and terrorism is possible.

The ministry added that the decision of the Russian Supreme Court does not change Russia's obligation to comply with the UN Security Council sanctions against individuals and legal entities, as well as other groups and enterprises associated with the Taliban.
