In 2024, 870 people across Russia received sentences under articles on terrorism. This was reported by RIA Novosti on 17 April with reference to statistics of the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.

Under articles 205-206 of the Russian Criminal Code on committing a terrorist attack, undergoing training, promoting terrorist activity and calls for it, 77 women, 17 defendants over 60 years old and 48 minors who have reached the age of criminal responsibility were convicted. Additionally, 75 persons were sentenced for carrying out terrorist attacks, among them 10 women. 

 Eighty-nine defendants were convicted of incitement to terrorist activity and recruitment of new members for terrorist organisations, and 45 were convicted for terrorist training. Public calls to terrorism resulted in sentences for 410 people. Another 46 defendants were punished for training in terrorist activities.

It is specified that more than half of the convicted, which is 473 people, are able-bodied, but they have no permanent source of income. And only 184 people out of the total number of the convicts have higher education.
