Tatarstan resident sentenced to 17 years for propaganda of terrorism
The organiser of a terrorist group from the Kukmorsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan was sentenced to 17 years for propaganda and financing of terrorism. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service for the republic.
According to the security service, the Tatarstan resident was advocating for terrorism and financed a militant of a foreign terrorist organisation who was on the international wanted list. The attacker also encouraged members of the group to leave for Syria to join the ranks of terrorists.
He was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 205.4 (“Organisation of a terrorist community and participation in it”), four episodes under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 (“Facilitating terrorist activity”), Part 1 of Article 205.2 (“Public calls for terrorist activity, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
