Media: France steps up military presence in Syria amid US withdrawal

France is planning to increase its military presence in north-eastern Syria.

Al Modon reports that Paris considers increasing its presence in the international coalition against ISIS in the context of the reduction of the US presence, citing sources close to the French Foreign Ministry.

According to media reports, there are already between 100 and 200 French military personnel in this part of Syria. They also consider strengthening the mission in Erbil, northern Iraq.

In addition to military activity, France is trying to establish a dialogue between the Syrian Democratic Forces (RKK/YPG terrorist organization) and Turkey.

It is noted that Paris sees the changed balance of power as a chance to regain political influence in the region.
