High-ranking Islamic Jihad members detained in Syria
Syrian authorities have detained two senior members of the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad “who took part in the October 2023 attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip,” Reuters reported, citing a source in Syria.
The Al-Quds Brigades said in a statement that Khaled Khaled, who heads Islamic Jihad's operations in Syria, and Yasser al-Zafari, who heads its organising committee, were in detention in Syria for five days.
A spokesman for the Syrian Interior Ministry confirmed the detention but did not provide clarifications when asked about the reasons for the detention.
