A blast took place near a mosque in the Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif, the administrative centre of Balkh province, located in the north of the country. This was reported by the Etilaatroz newspaper with reference to eyewitnesses.

According to them, at least one person was killed and three others were injured. The cause of the explosion, according to preliminary data, was the detonation of a pre-planted explosive device.

Representatives of the ruling Taliban movement in Afghanistan have not yet commented on the information about the explosion.

As the newspaper notes, this mosque was the target of a suicide attack in 2022. Dozens of people were impacted by the attack.
